Biography

Santamarina has taught at NYU-Polytechnic, the University of Waterloo, Georgia Tech and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology KAUST. The network of more than two hundred former team members reaches national laboratories, industry, federal and state agencies, and more than 40 universities worldwide.

Research

Professor Santamarina’s research integrates experimental and numerical approaches to investigate the behavior of geomaterials -including sediments, fractured rocks, and complex fluids- with applications in geotechnical engineering and energy geotechnology.

Education
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering  Purdue University  1987
MSc in Civil Engineering               University of Maryland 1984
BSc in Civil Engineering    Universidad Nac. Córdoba

1982

Teaching

Santamarina teaches courses on the properties of geomaterials (sediments and fractured rocks), coupled processes, experimental research methods, multi-physics characterization, signal processing, and inverse problems.
