U.S. News and World Report has released its 2025 Best Colleges rankings, featuring Georgia Tech’s undergraduate civil engineering at No. 1 and environmental engineering at No. 3.
Civil engineering was ranked No. 1 for the first time since 2021, up from the No. 2 spot over the past three years. Environmental engineering maintained its No. 3 ranking for the fourth year in a row.
“We are thrilled to be named the top civil engineering program in the nation,” said Karen and John Huff School Chair Don Webster. “This is a welcome recognition of our ongoing dedication to modernizing our curricula and prioritizing our student experience. I am extremely proud of our environmental engineering program for maintaining its No. 3 ranking and for our civil engineering program be elevated to No. 1.”
For the past two decades, civil engineering has ranked among the nation’s top five programs, and environmental engineering has been listed in the top 10 since the degree program was established at Georgia Tech in 2006.
The 2025 rankings were favorable for Georgia Tech all around. The College of Engineering was ranked No. 4 in the nation, with each of its engineering programs ranked in the top four.
