Civil Engineering Alum Keith Golden Named GDOT Commissioner

The State Transportation Board unanimously finalized its selection of Georgia Department of Transportation CE Alumnu s Keith GoldenInterim Commissioner Keith Golden (BSCE '86, MSCE '89) as permanent. A DOT board search committee had recommended Golden as sole candidate for the post. A veteran Georgia DOT employee, Golden has been serving as commissioner on an acting basis since last September.

A registered Professional Engineer, Golden holds both Bachelor’s (1986) and Master’s (1989) degrees in Civil Engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology.

“I am honored that the Board has shown this confidence in me,” Golden said. “I have spent 25 years – basically my entire working life – at this Department. I have tremendous respect and admiration for the staff and the work they do every day, all across this state. The Board and the Department face enormous challenges in preserving and growing Georgia’s excellent transportation system; there is so much to be done. By working together though, in concert with the Governor, the General Assembly and our congressional delegation, I am confident we will keep Georgia’s transportation infrastructure the best in the nation.”
