Dr. Kimberly E. Kurtis recognized with ACI award

College of Engineering ADVANCE Professor Dr. Kimberly E. Kurtis has recently been chosen to receive the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Delmar L. Bloem Distinguished Service Award. A member of the CEE faculty for more than a decade, Kurtis will formally accept the honor during ACI’s April 2013 conference, to be held in Minneapolis.

In making the award, ACI officials commended Kurtis for “outstanding leadership of Committee 236, Material Science of Concrete.” Kurtis served as Chair of the committee from 2006 through 2012 and previously served as Secretary of that committee. Under her leadership, the committee undertook new efforts related to nanotechnology and sustainability relevant to cements and concrete.

Kurtis has made numerous technical and educational contributions to ACI.
She is currently a member of the Educational Activities Committee and is also a voting member of ACI Committee 201: Durability of Concrete . She is a past recipient of ACI's Walter P. Moore Jr. Faculty Achievement Award and was elected Fellow in 2010.
