A committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) has chosen CEE doctoral candidate Lakshmi Peesapati to receive the 2013 Young Researcher Paper Award.
Peesapati was recognized by the Safety Data Analysis and Evaluation Committee for research he co-authored, "Evaluation of Post-encroachment Time as a Surrogage for Opposing Left-turn Crashes," which was submitted to the TRB during its January 2013 conference in Washington, DC. He will officially receive the award during the TRB's January 2014 Conference.
The article evaluates the limitations of traditional crash data analysis of highway safety.
The criteria for this award include a requirement that the first author be under 35 years at the time of the Annual Meeting. Peesapati's co-authors are CEE faculty Michael P. Hunter, PhD,and Michael O. Rodgers, PhD.
