The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) has been recognized as the 2011 Gold Tower Award winner in the "Website and Microsites" category. Held annually by Georgia Insitute of Technology, The Gold Tower Awards recognize excellence in communications and marketing across the Institute.
This year's program drew more than 101 entries from thirty-six campus units, judged internally by Georgia Tech communicators, and externally by relevant Atlanta design firms and neighboring university communciations and marketing departments. While many excellent entries were received, only one entry in each category received a Gold Tower Award. In an effort to recognize additional superior work, the 2011 planning committee also presented several awards of excellence.
CEE's winning website involved a complete redesign to the overall look of the site, as well restructure of the organization of website content. By taking into account feedback from students, faculty, and staff, the school was able to make changes to content, design, functionality, and site structure to better meet the needs of both internal and external audiences. In addition, Drupal, a content management system, was implemented to better organize content and improve processes. Information is now easy to find, and cross-linked throughout the site, providing ways for individuals to stay in touch and get involved.
Congratulations to all of CEE for their recent recognition of efforts and excellence in communications and marketing.
President G.P. "Bud" Peterson presents to Ruth Gregory (Communications Officer, CEE - center) and Jessica Hunt (Graphic Designer, CEE - left) the 2011 Gold Tower Website and Microsite Award.
