Congratulations to Ph.D. student Jazalyn Dukes who was recently named the winner of the Earthquake 
Engineering Research Institute (EERI) 2011 Graduate Student Paper Competition. Her paper entitled “Effect of Column Behavior on the Fragility Relationships of California Bridges” examines the accuracy and reliability of the fragility analysis of bridges in California.
EERI's annual student paper competition promotes active involvement of students in earthquake engineering and the earthquake hazards community. The competition is overseen by the organization's Student Activities Committee.
Jazalyn is a fourth year doctoral student with Dr. Reginald DesRoches. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and earned a Master's in civil engineering at Georgia Tech in December 2009.
As the winner, Jazalyn will receive a travel award to attend the 2012 EERI Annual Meeting on April 10-13, 2012, where she will present her paper. For additional information about EERI, visit: http://www.eeri.org/.
