Georgia Tech’s undergraduate civil engineering program is the second best in the nation in new rankings from U.S. News and World Report released Sept. 9.
That’s up from No. 3 a year ago.
Meanwhile, the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering bachelor's program in environmental engineering maintained its No. 3 ranking.
"I was pleased to see our civil engineering program ranked second, its highest ranking ever, while our environmental program maintained its strong ranking at No. 3," said Reginald DesRoches, Karen and John Huff school chair. "It is a reflection of the hard work of the faculty, staff and students, as well as our alumni, who continue to support and promote our programs."
The civil program has maintained a top-five ranking going back to at least 2003. Environmental engineering has been among the top five for the last five years.
The School joins every other engineering discipline at Tech in the top eight of U.S. News’ annual America’s Best Colleges survey. The College of Engineering’s overall bachelor’s program rose to fourth among universities that award doctorates, a tie with Caltech.
“It is gratifying to know that U.S. News & World Report recognizes Georgia Tech’s excellence in undergraduate engineering education,” said Gary May, dean of engineering at Georgia Tech. “This shows we are doing an outstanding job at producing a high level of academic quality within the college.”
Georgia Tech ranked seventh among public universities in the 2015 survey and 35th among all national universities.
